about

Full of summer vibes and rebellious spirit, Fins N Tins join previous releases by Pool Sharks, Cowgirl, Superlove and Kimber bringing yet another musical style to a series that has created physical artefacts for some of the best new bands around.

Formed in a student house around a shared love of surf/skate culture and drinking beer, this is a friendship first that just happened to evolve into a band. Maxwell Ker (lead guitar) and Gareth Gray (bass), Jacob Roberts (guitar, vocals) and David Beaumont (drums) aspire to reject the nine to five and live the freedom of the culture they love.
Their music is both a reflection of their life and a potential route to the life they want to live.

This being a strange year and ‘Another Day’ is a strange release, something out of the ordinary for Fins N Tins. Side-stepping their usual punky vibe, the tunes were written and rehearsed by the full band but forced into isolation the track was essentially created solely by Roberts.

The music has an underlying mood of not being able to see your partner, your friends or whatever you are craving, but comes with an optimism that is more than welcome in Pandemic Land.

Sonically, other than the classic Californian surf vibes, this music nods towards Surf Curse member Nicholas Rattigan’s solo work as Current Joys and ‘Makeout Videotape’ era Mac Demarco, in its ability to draw melancholy from jubilant melodies.

All in all, while containing the same optimistic energy, ‘Another Day’ highlights a softer, more reflective side to a band more known for full-throttle punk shows and boundless energy than downbeat balladry.
‘Another Day’ is the perfect end to this exciting run of releases from bands who have so much more to give moving into 2021.
