Wandering Summer are a noisepop indiepunk band from LS6 in Leeds. Hailing from the underbelly of the tag stained, take away rich streets of fun central in Leeds, UK. Wandering Summer fit somewhere between the scrawled urban terraces and their far out sunny green dreams.

With a sound characterised by scratched fuzz, zealous reverb, indolence, Wandering Summer produce a sound that resonates with buzzing and hissing ear drums. Influenced by the indie pop scenes of the USA and the Bay Area alt-pop movement, the band draws inspiration from revered talents like Sonic Youth, Flying Nun Records, Slumberland Records, Glaswegian indiepop and a myriad of feedback-drenched noise pop bands from previous decades.

Wandering Summer was brought together by singer-guitarist Geddy Laurance in the backwash of the pandemic, with band members who sqwarked with experience from renowned labels such as Slumberland Records and Dance to The Radio records. Ged has drummed for Sarah and Slumberland records cult indiepunk favourites Boyracer, and has drummed, played bass and sung in oddball bands like City Yelps and Leeds slackers Wonderswan (on cult indie labels like Emotional Response, Odd Box, Dance to the Radio), whilst promoting mainly US alt-pop touring bands (The Umbrellas, Seablite, Jeanines, Sic Alps etc) at his DIY gigs in the Leeds area. Ged hooked up with guitar player Luke Wheeler (Take Turns) and drummer Jamie Deakin (Samsa, Lowpines) and bass player Niall Kennedy (Dallas Don’t, The Beckoning Fair Ones) to form Wandering Summer.

The release of Wandering Summer's self-titled debut EP is scheduled for July 7th. The EP serves as an introduction to the band's noisepop psychedelic indiepop sound, comprising five tracks uncovering Wandering Summer's audio-vision. Leading the way is the first single, "Show me The Way," which captures Wandering Summers at their most sentimental and indie-pop-inspired. The track explores challenges faced by run-away teenagers. The digital B-side is, “A New Mastery” showcasing the bands improv sound, within a song about the confusion and chaos of navigating modern communications.

"The Wandering Summer EP" will be released through the collaboration of Safe Suburban Home and Repeating Cloud Records.
