Welcome to our first ever compilation cassette. As Safe Suburban Home has grown over the last 3 years, we have had the opportunity to work with so many fabulous artists and make loads of friends. We really wanted to curate a collection of songs together to showcase our local(ish) area and some artists who are too good not to share.

The collection of songs are all previously un-released and include demos recorded on phones, studio demos, un-mastered studio recordings, session tracks & cover versions.

The ‘A-side’ of the cassette has a group of artists who are local to York or have a very strong connection to the city. It’s incredible for such a small city to punch so highly in terms of its musical output.

The ‘B-side’ contains some our out favourite ever artists from the UK, Europe and the USA that we’ve picked up on through shows, demo submissions, recommendations or who have been a big influence on us.

To finish it off we felt we had to make the proceeds of the release go to charity. All the bands have donated the tracks for free. We have selected the RNLI as our charity of choice this year. The RNLI is the Royal National Lifeboat Association. They are a charity founded upon and driven by selflessness, courage, dependability and trustworthiness, with volunteers making up 95% of the organisation. But probably more importantly, they are currently helping provide safe passage to those seeking asylum and making the horrendous sea crossing from France to the UK. Due to this work, the RNLI has become a target by the right-wing press in the UK. We want to be able to donate to the cause, but also help spread the word across the independent music scene.
